Set your objectives

Before starting with anything, identify first what you want to achieve. Remember it’s not always generating revenue, well not directly generating revenue. Try to dig deeper! For example, your returning visitor is declining which in effect lossing the sales opportunity from your loyal customers. Then from there you can set your objectives as to increase your returning visitors.

Aside from setting you objectives, you need to set measurable parameters on creating your objectives. If currently you have X number of returning visitors, you need to set if you want to increase this by X percent. Your objective will be important as you start creating your campaign and loose focus, you can always go back to the objective’s you have set.

Review your current digital marketing strategies

First thing you need to understand is where is your business in terms of the digital maturity model. Are you a beginner? novice? advance? You need to asses how far your understanding of digital is, if your concept of digital marketing is simply creating a facebook page, you may want to read more here.

Try asking yourself

  • What are my current assets? (website, social media, mobile apps, etc)
  • Am I able to monitor track the contribution of each?

Choose the the right platforms and strategy.

Not all digital channels works the same on every business. For example, social media may work fro company A but not for your business. What you need to do is maximize on your strenghts, whether you have a strong social media followings, you have 100k subscribers, etc.

Each part of the campaign will need to be assigned to the right digital channel. For example you won’t be creating conversions on your social media channels. You can drive engagement or awareness with your social media, but conversion or lead generation will happen on your website. So you need to make sure your website, or specifically your landing page is optimized for conversion.

Launch, tweak and optimize!

When creating your campaigns, it’s not just an overnight execution, the whole campaign can run for weeks, months or even more. You may not get instant results once you launch. Review the performance of your campaign, whether that is a Facebook ads, lead generation, etc. The key thing is you learn from the performance and optimize! You can always change some variables while the campaign is running. In this way, you get to maximize the result of the whole campaign.
