Companies with disruptive business models anchored on technology and innovation need to understand that they have to work with government and other stakeholders to make things work, said an official of the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP).
A case in point is Uber, MAP secretary Donald Lim told ANC’s Market Edge on Monday.
“It’s not about a pure technology play, you have to understand the business side of it. You have to understand the consumer, the government side of it. And I think they (Uber) are just coming to terms with that,” Lim said.
Uber’s regional boss is coming to MAP’s international CEO Conference on Tuesday.
Besides disruptive technologies, CEOs and other business leaders will also be discussing ASEAN’s push for regional integration and its implications for businesses across the region.
“I think it’s a wake-up call for the Philippine side. How do we compete here and defend our market share. And how do we actually go abroad and expand our market base,” Lim said.
