Uber has quiet down in the news lately, no more LTFRB issues. But many UBER drivers are now complaining with the low incentives they get from UBER. It was just a matter of time before UBER removed the incentive, it’s impossible for UBER to be profitable by giving drivers P300 incentive per ride.
In my view UBER is still a win win situation for both riders and drivers regardless of the incentive. I listed some key advantages of using UBER.
1. Surge pricing is agreed by both parties. UBER’s mission is not to provided the cheapest transportation but to make sure UBER drivers are there when you need them. Unlike riding cabs, first thing they would ask from you, especially during peak season, is to give additional pay on top of the fare. Some riders might agree but some may not, and usually this ends up either the rider being mad at the driver or vice versa.
2. Riders and drivers are show mutual respect. Let’s face it most of the riders of UBER are professionals, most would show respect and etiquette to the car and driver. The same goes to the drivers, most of the drivers would usually greet you with a good morning and they are very polite. In my years of riding a taxi, I don’t recall a driver greeting you with a good morning. For the other riders who are used to riding a cab, they usually slam the door and don’t care about the car. Observe that most of the UBER cars are brand new so make sure to take care of the car.
3. Safety of both parties. One thing about UBER is that everything is being tracked, some may have issues on privacy but in the end it will always be something handy in times of emergency. UBER not only measures time of pickup/drop off it also records the route of the trip and details of the driver/rider.
4. Forgot something in your UBER ride? You can always contact UBER to report the lost item or if you left in item in the car, or better yet, contact the driver directly. If you think about it, it’s impossible for drivers not to return the item since UBER has complete records of their profile.
Both drivers and riders should take care of each other without the other the convenience it brings to both parties won’t happen. Take note for riders, drivers also rate you. You can email UBER to ask for your own rating. The higher your rating the higher chances of getting drivers fast.
