A million filters with infltr

Love adding filters to your photos? Tired of the dozen of filters available from instagram? How about a million filters?

Infltr, a photo-editing app that launched today on Apple’s App Store, taps into your smartphone’s graphics processor (GPU) to bring you a near-infinite number of filters on the fly.

Relying on techniques from game developers, the app can change the color of every pixel on screen in real time, allowing for a grand total of 5,120,000 filters.

The app is tactile, allowing you to swipe around your screen to change the filter instantly. What’s strange about using it, though, is the fact that you have to mess with the filters before you take a photo. That makes it not particularly efficient: sometimes you have to swipe around a lot before you find the right filter.
