We are done with 2014 and a lot has changed and a lot has been disrupted by technology.
Remember the shortage of chicken joy in Metro Manila? it was not really a shortage of supply but rather a migration of IT system for Jollibee.
Finally Apple has joined the phablets market. It’s clear that smartphones are getting bigger and some articles would say Tablet sales are getting a slight decrease. I guess the question still remains, does it bend?
2014 was my year of learning e-commerce from scratch, yes I have been reading a lot of articles with online payments and e-commerce but I tell you nothing comes close to doing the actual operations.
Let’s forget sulit, it’s olx now! if you’re following the startup scene this may be one of the highlights. Sulit.ph becoming a part of the international OLX network, and soon bought out its competitor AyosDito months after.
Music industry has also got a lot of attention. Taylor Swift going away from Spotify leaves the question, what does people really want? do they want to own the music? or stream the music? which is more profitable for the artists? what will Apple be doing with Beats? will they be including beats headphones on your next gadget?
Did you know that telco’s are now refraining from unlimited data? there’s no such thing as unlimited data according to Globe. All new plans are now on GoSurf 999 which gives you 5gb/month with an anti-bill shock of Php1,500
We keep on saying smart devices or internet of things but nothing really became a hit last 2014. One thing is for sure Apple is ready with their smart watch, Google has acquired nest, more health apps, and many more!
By now you must have heard “Uber”, you may not know how it works but I’m sure you’ve heard it somewhere. I’ve rode around 20 rides of uber and I must say it’s one of the best thing that happened in local tech for 2014.
So how was your 2014 in tech? 🙂
