It’s the season again! Finally got my iPhone 6 through Globe. Philippines got the new iPhone a bit earlier than expected, it’s usually a December release.

So how was the pre order from Globe? here are the steps:

  1. Pre register for your iPhone (Oct.24)
  2. Pre Order for your iPhone (I actually don’t know what’s the difference of pre-order vs pre register, Nov.7)
  3. Pay for your pre-order and wait for the claim stub

Very convenient at the same time tricky for pre orders, you can select to have it delivered or via pick up, I choose to pick up the unit instead. Why? Well here are my reasons:

  • In case of defective unit
  • I’m assuming it would be faster to get the unit at the store against the burden of patiently waiting for the unit to arrive
  • I can complain immediately if there is something wrong with the unit/contract (like in my case, i wasn’t aware of the GoSurf plan until the day I got my new iPhone)

If you’re on re-contracting from a super unli plan then bad news! There’s no more unli data for Globe, you can only select from the different GoSurf Plans.

Tip #1: Charge per MB can exceed until P500, anything above P500 is already free/unli

So I finally got at the branch (Que Ave National Bookstore), surprisingly there were no lines and I went there before lunch. I was expecting to have heavy lines like the midnight launch on the Globe tower. Also saw their list and total of 70 reserved units(more than half ordered iPhone6 instead of 6+) for that branch and my name was not there, good thing I brought my claim stub.

Tip #2: Globe will give you a new sim for your new iPhone, even if I clearly told the customer service representative on the store no need to transfer signal to the new sim since I will be using my old sim, guess what happened… I lost the signal that night and worst I was out. So in case Globe gives you a new sim, please bring it always!

Tip #3: As my understanding with Globe Rep, Spotify Premium account is free as long as you avail GoSuf299 up, and using Spotify won’t consume your MB allocation. article here

Good News! You get a special discount from Beyond the Box, Digital Walker and Switch, upto 35% off on your case!

This is what I got, not bad almost P500 discount availed.

Overall the experience was good, if you plan getting a new iPhone6 make sure to settle whatever discrepancies with your plan. The unit itself feels so nice on your hands that it makes you wanna lick it (as Steve Jobs would say). Always check for scratches/dents on your brand new unit, and aside from that check if you unit is not bent.

Tip #4: You can re contract 1 month earlier with no termination fee

Tip #5: If you want to make sure you get iPhone releases on the first day, always call customer service and make the confirmation

The last tip I’ll give you would probably be the best, did you know you can get Apple certification from Globe? meaning all Apple products purchased from Globe will be serviced by Power Mac Center. If your unit would need replacement, Power Mac Center will replace it no questions asked.

Just go to a Globe Center and request for Apple certification, might be best to get the certification from the branch where you got your phone 🙂

What do you mean by Tip#4? Would that be upgrading my current plan with that of the iphone offer and whenever the official launch date arrives, that is when I will be locked on the plan only? Thanks
