Many have been criticizing Apple with the last WWDC and announced “nothing” but just a change of UI for iOS, no new hardware, copying Windows and Android OS, no new innovations and many more. I personally disagree, I think it was even one of the better WWDC in the recent years.
Most of us don’t realize but I think the new Mac Pro is a leap for Apple. Sure none of us won’t really care since Mac Pro is for the “heavy” users but it’s been a while since they had a “refresh” of Mac Pro. What we tend to care about are the products we use the most, iPad, iPod, iPhone, Macbook, etc. But for others Mac Pro is their “ultimate” machine, it is where they do the hardcore animations, music editing, heavy graphics and others. So far a smaller machine and something that is designed and assembled in USA is something that Apple has been pushing in the last year. We still have to wait and see the full specs for the new Mac Pro.
No new hardware? No retina display for MacBook Air? Of course I can’t speak on why they didn’t released a new MacBook Air. It was just logical for everyone after releasing a retina MacBook Pro, a retina MacBook Air would be next in line. But one thing I know about Apple is that they never compromise on their products. If they think making a retina display of MacBook Air would mean suffering the battery life then it’s for sure they won’t release until both hardware and software is ready.
Promotional Video of iOS 7:
iOS 7…. it’s just a copy of Windows and Android OS….. it’s so raw, we still need to wait for the update of the graphic design…. no new features…. These are just some of the comment I saw online about the new iOS 7. I won’t disagree with all the comments, but at the end of the day I think Apple still was able to execute it perfectly. Yes it is a copy of Windows and Android OS, but does Windows and Android give you the smooth experience and does not lag every now and then? If you analyze the promotional video of iOS7 it is more than just copying the design. The design of iOS 7 was aimed to create a connection between the device and the user through design. It’s more than just making the design “neat” or improving the user experience, it’s how consumers feel about the overall design.
See this video as Apple’s design principles:
You see Apple never invented things, the tablet, the smartphone, laptops etc. But Apple continues what it does best, reinventing things. The tablet was an original concept by Microsoft way earlier than the iPad, but for some reason it never went mainstream, why? because it had an OS of a PC, it needed a precision of a cursor, it consumes power like a PC. Everything was a compromise you can’t really feel the experience of being mobile when you always need to find a power outlet after 2 hours, when you always needed to bring that stylus, when everything you do is slow because it didn’t have a processor of a PC.
The way I see it Apple is not about getting first, but making it perfect the first time. Every advancement of Apple was because of perfect timing. If iPads came before iPhones, it may not have been as successful as what we have today. Have they executed the right software without a “mature” hardware to get in the market first, they might have failed.
