When Steve Jobs resigned as Apple CEO last August of 2011, I knew things were getting worse with his health condition, but never did I thought he would pass away sooner than expected. It was a tough battle Steve had went through, despite that he never stopped his vision for Apple. When he was diagnosed with cancer, it gave him the urgency that the end would be sooner than expected. This gave him more motivation to pursue all the things he wanted to do.
I have watched all the tribute videos and documentary films of Steve Jobs on Youtube and what really makes him extraordinary is his journey. What makes it exciting was watching him go through all the roller coaster rides he went through to achieve what he was able to reach. His journey was never an instant success, he had to earn every bit of success he made.
Of course Steve Jobs was not perfect as everyone would have pictured him. He was arrogant, selfish, control freak and probably all the other negative things you could think of for a boss. He would steal your idea and claim that it was his idea. In fact, he could be the complete opposite of how he presents himself during Apple events.
The book written by Walter Isaacson could probably the last of what Steve Jobs left us. The book was written not for the Apple fans but for his kids. Steve Jobs never really had the luxury of time to spend with his family, he was a workaholic. The book was his way of relaying to his children the story of his life.
I was able to watch iGenius – Steve Jobs. One thing I realized is that he did not invent things, he re-invented them.
- PC changed it to Mac
- Laptop changed it to Mac Book Air
- MP3 players changed it to iPod
- Smartphones changed it to iPhone
- Touch screens changed it to multi-touch
- Tablets changed it to iPad
- Music Industry changed it to iTunes
- Computer animations changed it to PIXAR
- Computer codes changed it to GUI
- “Do I really need this?” changed it to “I can’t live without this”
According to the video, the iPhone(2007) was the greatest product of Apple.
The legacy that Steve Jobs made may never be replaced by anyone. We have a lot of start up companies and young entrepreneurs lately, but I think no one can even come close to what he has achieved.
I’d also like to share this rare video of Steve Jobs and Bill Gates being together in one event. I think it’s the only time you will see them together publicly. Most of you might see Bill and Steve as rivals, but you know what, Steve and Bill’s friendship can be described by a Beatles Song “You and I have Memories Longer Than the Road That Stretches out Ahead”.
