Globe Telecom announces its 4G LTE network for broadband and mobile. The launch of LTE forms part of its US$700-Million network modernization program.

Globe was first to introduce 4G technology in the Philippines in 2009, with the deployment of its Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMax) network. Last year, Globe was also first to launch 4G Evolved High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA+) network. This year, 4G gets even better with LTE.

In September, Globe launches its 4G LTE network covering 45 sites in Makati City, and will quickly expand to cover regions across Manila, Cebu, Davao and select regions.

To date, Globe has over 2,700 4G sites, that will increase to over 4,000 sites by end 2012. By the fourth quarter of 2012, 4G LTE-capable devices will be available.
