ABS-CBN in partnership with Globe has officially joined forces for delivering content through mobile.
The partnership will see ABS-CBN capitalize on its strength in creating and delivering content, while riding on the Globe Telecom backbone. This enables both firms to reach new markets and have a wider audience base.
“While the concept of network sharing has been prevalent in the US & US, it’s never been done in PH; this is a pioneering effort” – Ernest Cu, Globe CEO
“ABS-CBN will be investing P2 to 3 billion [in this new venture] over the next three years” – Carlos Katigbak, ABS-CBN
“This groundbreaking partnership, which converges two separate industries, enables ABS-CBN – the country’s largest media and entertainment conglomerate – to deliver ABS-CBN content and offer traditional telecoms services on mobile devices,” Rolando P. Valdueza, ABS-CBN’s group chief finance officer, said in a disclosure.
I guess the idea of delivering TV content through mobile is not new, check this article from yugatech way back 2007.
The partnership is not really a surprise since articles were already floating since early last year.
